Distinguish a full lease from proof of accommodation

A receiving office may want a signed lease, an accommodation confirmation, or evidence of the signer’s right to provide the property.

01

Source record

Include schedules, house rules, inventory, amendments, and signatures.

02

Reader and purpose

Defined premises, payment periods, notice dates, and obligations should be translated consistently.

03

Quote details

Ask whether the recipient needs the whole lease or evidence of residence from another source.

What to check before ordering

These notes help you describe your request. The receiving organization’s current instructions should guide the final requirements.

Check whether this residence route asks for accommodation evidence

Use the Ministry’s subsection for your actual residence purpose. Its study checklist says proof of accommodation is required only for secondary school students. Do not assume that every university study-residence applicant needs a lease translated for that application. A university, housing provider, or another procedure may separately ask for records; identify that recipient and request before ordering. For a route that does require accommodation evidence, ask which listed record and translation format it accepts.

Ask for the exact accommodation document

The Slovak Foreign Ministry lists several possible proof-of-accommodation documents for residence procedures, including a lease with the owner or user, an accommodation-facility confirmation, and certain sworn declarations. If a lease is signed by a user rather than the owner, its guidance may also call for evidence of that user’s right to use the property. This is a procedure-specific checklist, so ask the responsible office which option it accepts in your case before translating a lengthy agreement.

Include the version that governs the stay

The premises description, parties, term, rent, deposit, renewal, notice, signatures, and date may appear across the main lease, addenda, inventory, or house rules. Mention any amendment that changes the original terms. Translating an unsigned draft while filing a later signed version can create a mismatch. Ask the recipient whether the complete agreement or selected proof pages are required.

Check formalities and roles separately

The Ministry’s residence guidance includes official-translation rules for required foreign-language documents and signature-certification rules for lease agreements submitted in the relevant proceedings. Translation cannot certify a signature, establish ownership, or decide whether a lease is legally effective. Ask the recipient which authentication, certified-copy, or official-translation steps apply to the exact document and use.

Give a useful quote scope

State the issuing country, document version, number of pages and annexes, recipient, whether it is signed, the requested translation form, and deadline. Do not enter tenants’ names, property address, rent, or payment details in the initial public form. A legible copy can be reviewed through an agreed channel afterward.

Common questions

Answers to common questions before you request a quote.

Does every study-residence application require a translated lease?

The Ministry’s study checklist requires accommodation evidence only for secondary school students. Ask the office handling your actual route and distinguish any separate university or housing request before including a lease.

Does a residence application always need the entire lease translated?

The required document depends on the residence purpose and receiving office. Ask whether it accepts a different accommodation confirmation or requires the full signed lease and annexes.

Will translation certify the landlord’s signature?

No. Signature certification is a separate act. Ask the responsible office which formalities apply to the source.
