What to know
A passport can be requested as identity evidence alongside other records. The receiving office determines whether a copy, an official translation, or both are needed.
Specify which page or pages the recipient wants, including endorsements or name-change observations.
Names, birth details, issuing authority, and transliteration may need to match other submitted records.
Ask whether a translation is needed at all or whether a certified copy of the passport is sufficient.
Document guide
These notes help you describe your request. The receiving organization’s current instructions should guide the final requirements.
The Slovak Embassy’s citizenship-by-descent checklist names a valid passport and separately lists civil records that need apostilles and official Slovak translations. Its general translation instruction is broad, so do not assume a passport is always exempt or always translated. Ask the specific office whether it needs the original passport, a copy, the biographical page in Slovak, or another format for your procedure.
The biographical page normally contains the holder’s name, date and place of birth, nationality, document number, validity dates, issuing authority, and machine-readable zone. An observation page, endorsement, name-change notation, or visa page may be relevant in a particular file. List the pages the recipient actually asked for; translating an entire passport without that instruction may add cost without helping the filing.
Compare the spelling and order of names against birth, marriage, naturalization, and name-change records before finalizing a document set. A passport can show a current name while an older civil record shows a prior one. Flag the discrepancy and include the connecting document if the receiving office asks for it; a translation should preserve the source and should not silently reconcile different names.
State the issuing country, number of relevant pages, recipient, required translation form, and deadline. Do not enter a passport number, date of birth, scan, or machine-readable line into the public quote form. The passport itself remains the identity document; a translation is only a rendering of requested text.
How it works
Tell us what the document is, who needs the Slovak translation, and when you need it. The first form does not require a file.
Choose the type and tell us where the translation will be used.
Include the approximate length, deadline, and any instructions from the recipient.
We review the request and may contact you by email if more detail is needed.
Frequently asked
Answers to common questions before you request a quote.
Its citizenship-by-descent checklist names a valid passport but also gives broad translation instructions for non-Slovak or non-Czech documents. Ask the responsible consular office which passport pages, if any, need an official translation in your application.
No. Present the identity document and any separate name-change evidence the recipient requests. A translation should reproduce the source rather than resolve conflicting records.
