Document: Driving Licence. Include the approximate length, recipient, and deadline if you know them. We’ll review your request and may contact you by email about next steps.
What to know
A U.S. driver’s license (driving licence) may be needed for reading, recognition, or exchange. Those are separate questions, and an exchange can require more than the card.
Describe the issuing jurisdiction, front and back text, categories, and any attached driving record.
Class codes, restrictions, issue dates, and expiry dates are meaningful; do not assume they map directly to Slovak categories.
Ask whether the recipient wants a translation, an international driving permit, or another document.
Document guide
These notes help you describe your request. The receiving organization’s current instructions should guide the final requirements.
Ask whether the licence is for a Slovak traffic authority, employer, insurer, rental company, or another reader. Slovensko.sk explains that recognition depends on the issuing country and legal route, and its public-service guidance says qualifying foreign licences do not need an extra document merely for recognition. A translation requested by another recipient can still be useful, but do not assume paying for one creates a right to drive.
Give the issuing jurisdiction, licence format, issue and expiry dates, category codes, restrictions, endorsements, and any explanatory legend on the back. A front-only image can hide the key to a class or condition. Preserve official numbers, dates, and category codes as written; do not turn a foreign category into a Slovak category without a decision from the competent authority.
Section 104(11) of Slovakia’s Road Traffic Act says an applicant exchanging a licence issued by a Geneva or Vienna Convention state must also present information from the issuing state confirming the licence and entitlements, with a certified Slovak translation of that information and a certified translation of the licence. This is an exchange requirement, distinct from simply having a valid foreign licence recognized for driving. Ask the traffic inspectorate whether this route applies to your issuing jurisdiction, what issuer confirmation it accepts, and how each translation must be prepared before ordering only the card translation.
A licence, issuing-state entitlement confirmation, driving-history extract, and international driving permit serve different purposes. The Slovak public-service page separately discusses recognition, exchange, and renewal; current section 105(4) also describes issuer information and certified translations for specified renewals, with an automated-verification exception. Ask the traffic inspectorate which record and language it needs for your exact process, especially if the licence is expired.
State the issuing country or U.S. state, document type, whether both sides or linked records are in scope, recipient, requested output, and deadline. Do not put the licence number, address, date of birth, or full card image into the public quote form.

Frequently asked
Answers to common questions before you request a quote.
No. Eligibility follows the applicable recognition or exchange rules. Ask the competent traffic authority about your specific licence.
Mention both faces and any category legend so the recipient can say what it needs.
Not for the Convention-state exchange described in section 104(11): that provision also calls for issuing-state confirmation of the licence and entitlements and a certified Slovak translation of that confirmation. Ask the traffic inspectorate whether this is your route and what documents it will accept.
