Document: Employment Reference. Include the approximate length, recipient, and deadline if you know them. We’ll review your request and may contact you by email about next steps.
What to know
A reference may combine verifiable work history with an individual author’s opinion. The distinction should remain clear in Slovak.
Check the author’s role, employer letterhead, dates, signature, and contact statement.
Distinguish factual employment history from personal evaluation and recommendation.
Ask whether the recipient accepts a translated letter or wants direct verification from the employer.
Document guide
These notes help you describe your request. The receiving organization’s current instructions should guide the final requirements.
A reference may be addressed to a particular school, professional body, or prospective employer, and it may be marked confidential. Confirm that you are permitted to use and translate it for the new recipient. Ask the recipient whether it wants a translated letter, an original sent directly by the referee, a form completed by the referee, or a factual employment certificate instead. These processes are not interchangeable.
A supervisor’s recommendation describes experience or suitability; it is not a work permit or an employer confirmation of future qualifying activity. The Slovak Foreign Ministry lists those as possible proof-of-purpose documents for a Section 23(2) temporary-residence application. If the translation is for that procedure, get the receiving office’s current document list and ask whether a reference belongs in it before commissioning work.
Keep the employer, author, reporting relationship, dates, duties, and projects distinct from opinions about skill, conduct, or suitability. A positive phrase should not be strengthened and a reservation should not be removed. If the source is ambiguous, flag it for review rather than inventing an endorsement. Corrections to inaccurate facts or a changed recommendation must come from the author.
Letterhead, author title, signature, date, contact details, addressee, and any attached project list may help the reader understand who made the statement and when. Ask whether the receiving body requires a signed original, sealed copy, or a particular official translation form. Translation does not verify that the author works for the named organization or that the evaluation is accurate.
Tell us the page count, sector or profession, recipient, letter format, requested translation form, and deadline. Avoid pasting the evaluation, referee contact details, personnel data, or performance concerns into the public form. We can discuss a suitable file-review method once the request is scoped.
How it works
Tell us what the document is, who needs the Slovak translation, and when you need it. The first form does not require a file.
Choose the type and tell us where the translation will be used.
Include the approximate length, deadline, and any instructions from the recipient.
We review the request and may contact you by email if more detail is needed.
Frequently asked
Answers to common questions before you request a quote.
Only if the recipient accepts it. An evaluation letter and a factual verification letter may answer different questions.
A translation should preserve the author’s wording and tone. Ask the author for a revised source if the message needs to change.
No substitution should be assumed. The Ministry lists route-specific purpose evidence under Section 23; confirm the exact evidence with the receiving office before translating a recommendation.
