What to know
A scientific abstract, protocol synopsis, and results summary for lay readers have different purposes and levels of detail.
Include final version, tables, figures, disclosures, and references.
Endpoints, adverse events, statistical qualifiers, and population descriptions need consistent language.
Ask whether a lay summary or technical abstract is required.
Document guide
These notes help you describe your request. The receiving organization’s current instructions should guide the final requirements.
Identify whether the English source is a protocol synopsis, published abstract, scientific results summary, layperson summary, or internal study brief. State the sponsor or author, study identifier, approved version, intended Slovak reader, and whether the request is a faithful translation or a separately reviewed plain-language adaptation. Do not use a protocol description as though it were final results.
EMA distinguishes a clinical overview, a clinical summary, and reports on individual studies. In the Common Technical Document, these correspond to modules 2.5, 2.7, and 5.3: a clinical summary can cover the submitted clinical information, rather than only one trial. If your English file belongs to that package, give the module and document title, approved version, included studies, appendices, and intended reader. Ask the sponsor or regulatory owner which text needs Slovak translation and why. Do not scope an entire dossier module as a short abstract or assume that every regulatory submission requires a Slovak version.
Include study population, eligibility, intervention and comparator, endpoints, dates, sample size, main findings, adverse events, limitations, tables, figures, and disclosures that appear in the approved source. Preserve the difference between an observed association and a proven effect, and between a planned and measured endpoint. A missing subgroup or statistical qualification can change the apparent claim. Refer source discrepancies to the study owner.
The European Commission’s clinical-trial guidance distinguishes the technical results summary from the summary for laypersons under the EU Clinical Trials Regulation. Those requirements apply to the relevant regulated trials; they should not be assumed for every study brief. If the text is for that route, the sponsor or regulatory owner must confirm the required content, language, and submission process. Translation alone is not scientific or regulatory approval.
Give approximate words, tables and figures, source and target audience, document stage, terminology list, reviewer, output format, and deadline. State whether adaptation and final scientific review are in scope. Avoid entering patient data, unpublished findings, or confidential trial identifiers in the public quote form; share sensitive files through an authorized process after scoping.
How it works
Tell us what the document is, who needs the Slovak translation, and when you need it. The first form does not require a file.
Choose the type and tell us where the translation will be used.
Include the approximate length, deadline, and any instructions from the recipient.
We review the request and may contact you by email if more detail is needed.
Frequently asked
Answers to common questions before you request a quote.
A patient-facing adaptation needs its own scope and scientific review so key results and limitations remain accurate.
No. The approved study record and qualified reviewers determine what conclusions the evidence supports.
No. EMA describes the clinical summary as a dossier component covering submitted clinical information. Identify the actual module, document set, and reader before requesting a translation quote.
