What to know
A customs declaration is a formal act with commodity, value, origin, and procedure data. Translation does not amend or submit that record.
Include all pages, field key, attachments, and any corrected declaration.
Tariff codes and country codes should remain exact; explanatory text needs context.
Ask the broker or authority whether translation is needed and in what format.
Document guide
These notes help you describe your request. The receiving organization’s current instructions should guide the final requirements.
The European Commission describes an EU customs declaration as the act of placing goods under a customs procedure, generally made online. Ask whether the requested English source is an import declaration, export declaration, correction, supporting statement, or a broker-generated printout. The Slovak reader may need a working translation for review or a specific filing form; a broker or authority should confirm what it accepts.
Identify the declarant, goods description, commodity or tariff code, origin, destination, quantities, valuation fields, currency, tax amounts, procedure codes, and document references. Include the form legend and continuation sheets if field numbers or abbreviations are otherwise opaque. Translation should retain source codes and figures; it should not classify goods, choose an origin rule, recalculate duty, or create a new customs filing.
A commercial invoice, packing list, transport document, origin evidence, or license may be referenced in the declaration. Ask the broker which referenced records also need translation and whether a corrected declaration supersedes the original. The Commission notes that the required documents and process depend on the goods and procedure. Do not assume one translated declaration is a complete clearance package.
Give the country, declaration type and version, page and attachment count, reader, required output, and deadline. Do not paste tariff classifications, customer identifiers, commercial values, or account details into the public form. Arrange a suitable review channel for the actual record after the request is scoped.
