Keep the grading key and school year attached

A term report, annual report card, and official transcript may present different parts of a pupil’s academic record.

01

Source record

Include the grading legend, reverse side, and any school explanation of marks.

02

Reader and purpose

Subject names and achievement levels may not map exactly to a Slovak system.

03

Quote details

Ask the receiving school which years and official form it needs.

What to check before ordering

These notes help you describe your request. The receiving organization’s current instructions should guide the final requirements.

Ask which years and record types are needed

A receiving school may want recent term reports for placement, while a recognition office may require a leaving certificate and transcript of completed subjects and exams. The Slovak Ministry of Education’s secondary-recognition guidance lists these formal records for applicable applications and directs applicants to Regional School Administration Offices. A report card may support a different school-level decision but is not automatically a substitute for a transcript or leaving certificate. Obtain the reader’s exact document list first.

Include every explanation of the marks

Report cards can include subject grades, performance bands, attendance, behavior comments, teacher signatures, grading scales, and notes about promotion. The grading legend may be on the reverse or a separate school page. Include it so the reader can understand whether a letter or number is favorable and what period it covers. Translation should retain source marks and labels, not silently convert them to Slovak grades or decide equivalence.

Check the Ministry’s grade-conversion manual before ordering

For primary and secondary marks, the Slovak Ministry of Education now publishes conversion scales rather than individual mark-conversion statements. It says a school cannot require such a Ministry statement as a condition of admission or recognition of a study period. If an institution needs a scale absent from the manual, it can ask the Ministry to add one; an English-issued marks document does not need an official Slovak translation for that specific request. A separate school application or secondary-education recognition case may still have its own translation rule, so ask the receiving body which process it means.

Compare periods without rewriting the source

Check student name, school year, grade level, term dates, subject title, and whether a result is provisional or final. If the school later corrected a grade, mention the amended record rather than asking for an edit inside translation. Do not combine multiple report cards into a newly invented transcript. Only the issuing school can provide an official consolidated record if the recipient wants one.

Request a quote with limited personal data

State the issuing country, grade level, number of years and pages, grading-key pages, recipient, required translation form, and deadline. Do not enter a child’s name, grades, address, or school ID in the initial public form. Discuss how to review the records after the scope is clear.

Common questions

Answers to common questions before you request a quote.

Will translation convert my grades to Slovak grades?

No. It should preserve the source grades and their legend. The receiving institution decides how to interpret them.

Can I apply to the Ministry for an individual Slovak grade-conversion statement?

No. The Ministry says it no longer issues individual statements. It publishes conversion scales for primary and secondary marks; an institution can ask it to add a missing scale. Ask your school whether it wants a translation for another part of your application.

Can a report card replace an official transcript?

Only if the recipient accepts it. Ask for its exact record and year requirements before ordering translation.
