English to Slovak academic transcript translation

A transcript has more than course names. Grades, credits, dates, notes, and the grading legend may be important to the receiving institution. Tell us how the Slovak version will be used.

What to include in the scope

Help us understand the entire record before we discuss price or format.

01

Complete academic record

Mention front and back pages, grading keys, stamps, and supplements, even if some pages contain little text.

02

Course terminology

Tell us the level of study and discipline. A list of specialist course titles can need careful terminology choices.

03

Recipient requirements

Ask the university, employer, or recognition body whether it needs a particular translation form or additional documents.

Do not omit the grading key

A grade such as “A” or a number can mean different things across systems. The explanatory legend, credit scale, and institutional notes help a reader interpret the record. If that information is printed on the reverse side, include it in the scope. Translation should preserve what the source states; it should not silently convert grades into a new scale.

Separate school-grade conversion from transcript translation

For primary and secondary study, the Slovak Ministry of Education now publishes grade-conversion scales instead of issuing individual mark-conversion statements. It says a school cannot make its admission or study-period recognition conditional on such a Ministry statement. If an institution asks the Ministry to add a missing scale to its manual, the Ministry says an official Slovak translation of the marks document is unnecessary when that document was issued in English. This is a rule for that scale request, not a blanket exemption from a school’s own document instructions or a separate secondary-education recognition procedure. Ask the receiving institution which step it actually needs.

Check which recognition procedure applies

A translated transcript does not itself decide degree equivalence, admission, professional recognition, or course credit. Slovakia separates academic recognition for further study from recognition for a regulated profession. In the Ministry of Education’s current higher education level procedure, an applicant’s own translation is accepted for documents issued in English. Other recipients and procedures may differ. Check the exact authority’s current instructions before paying for a particular form of translation.

Check authentication separately for higher-education recognition

For the Ministry’s higher-education level recognition procedure without study-field comparison, its current checklist calls for an apostille or superlegalization of a document issued outside the European Higher Education Area from 1 September 2026. This rule is separate from that procedure’s acceptance of an applicant’s own translation of English documents. Ask the recognition centre which credential and transcript or diploma-supplement pages the requirement covers and how to submit them; do not apply this checklist to another recipient automatically.

Match the transcript to the electronic application route

For records originally issued on paper, that Ministry procedure’s electronic route under a bilateral agreement requires certified conversion of the diploma supplement or complete transcript. The route outside a bilateral agreement allows either certified conversion or your own scan of that supplement or transcript. The paper qualification document has its own certified-conversion rule in both routes. These are attachment-format requirements, separate from the Ministry’s acceptance of an applicant’s own translation of English records. Check the correct form and current instructions before preparing files.

Distinguish an electronic original from a scan

The Ministry’s glossary says authenticated, electronically issued education documents can replace certified copies or conversions in recognition processes. Keep the issuer’s original electronic file and ask the recognition centre about its verification method; a scan of paper is different.

Tell us how the final file will be used

A digital application portal may have size and format rules, while an office may request a paper submission. Describe the intended submission route, deadline, and whether the original is a scanned PDF or editable file. We will review the practical formatting scope before confirming a quote.

How to request a quote

Tell us what the document is, who needs the Slovak translation, and when you need it. The first form does not require a file.

01

Describe the document

Choose the type and tell us where the translation will be used.

02

Add your requirements

Include the approximate length, deadline, and any instructions from the recipient.

Review and next steps

We review the request and may contact you by email if more detail is needed.

Common questions

Answers to common questions before you request a quote.

Will you convert my grades to a Slovak scale?

A translation reflects the source. Grade conversion or credential evaluation is a separate decision for the receiving institution or evaluator.

Do I need an official translation just to request a missing school-grade conversion scale?

For a primary or secondary marks document issued in English, the Ministry says an official Slovak translation is unnecessary when an institution asks it to add a missing scale to the published manual. The Ministry no longer issues individual mark-conversion statements. Ask your school whether it needs a separate translation of the transcript for another purpose.

Should the grading legend be translated?

Mention it in the request. The recipient may need it to interpret grades, and it affects the document scope.

Do I need an official translation?

Ask the receiving institution or recognition authority. Its exact procedure determines what it will accept.

Does acceptance of my own English-to-Slovak translation remove the apostille requirement?

No. In the Ministry’s higher-education level recognition procedure, the translation exception and the September 2026 authentication rule are separate. Ask the recognition centre whether the rule for documents issued outside the European Higher Education Area applies to your record and submission route.

Can I upload my own scan of a paper transcript in an electronic recognition application?

In the Ministry’s higher-education level route without study-field comparison, its non-bilateral electronic application allows your own scan of a paper diploma supplement or complete transcript, while its bilateral-agreement route calls for certified conversion. Check which form applies and how the qualification document must be converted.
