Preserve the evidence behind each academic achievement

Appointments, publications, teaching, grants, and supervision should remain traceable to the source CV and application instructions.

01

Source record

Include the current version and all sections the recipient expects.

02

Reader and purpose

Keep publication titles, journal names, grant identifiers, and institutional names traceable.

03

Quote details

Ask whether the recipient has a prescribed CV format or length.

What to check before ordering

These notes help you describe your request. The receiving organization’s current instructions should guide the final requirements.

Identify the recipient and CV version

Say whether the Slovak CV is for a university appointment, research grant, doctoral application, public profile, or another purpose. Provide the current dated source and the recipient’s required template, page limit, or section order. Europass offers one CV format and stresses tailoring information to the opportunity; a specific university or funder may instead require its own format.

Keep citations and roles traceable

Include appointments, degrees, research interests, publications, preprints, conference papers, grants, teaching, supervision, service, prizes, and identifiers that the recipient asks to see. Preserve official institution and journal names, publication years, author order, DOI or other identifiers, and the difference between submitted, accepted, and published work. Translate explanatory role descriptions while keeping the underlying citation recognizable.

Separate faithful translation from editing

Ask whether the task is to translate the existing CV, adapt it to a Slovak application template, or edit it for clarity. A translator should not promote a contributor to principal investigator, turn a grant application into an award, or recategorize a conference abstract as a peer-reviewed article. The applicant or academic owner should review terms, dates, and claims before submission.

Scope updates and private information

Give pages, approximate words, publication count, source format, target template, intended reader, and deadline. Identify whether there will be updates before the application closes. Do not put unpublished manuscript details, personal addresses, student names, reviewer comments, or confidential grant information in the public quote form.
