Provide the version used for the course taken

First identify the decision: a university reviewing individual courses may ask for different records from an office recognizing a completed degree level.

01

Source record

Include the edition, academic year, hours, assessment method, and any learning-outcome appendix.

02

Reader and purpose

Specialist subject terms and abbreviations may require a glossary or departmental context.

03

Quote details

Ask whether the institution requires a full syllabus or a shorter course description.

What to check before ordering

These notes help you describe your request. The receiving organization’s current instructions should guide the final requirements.

Confirm the receiving school’s requested detail

For admission, course-credit review, or professional evaluation, ask whether the reader wants a full syllabus, a catalog description, laboratory outline, reading list, or a signed departmental summary. A transcript records that a course was taken, while a syllabus describes what the course covered. Supplying a much longer document than requested can increase translation scope without improving the decision.

Separate course-credit review from degree-level recognition

The Slovak Ministry of Education says individual higher-education courses and credits taken abroad are recognized by a Slovak higher education institution offering the same or a related field. Ask that institution which course descriptions, syllabi, and translation format it wants. The Ministry’s separate published checklist for recognition of a completed higher-education level without field comparison names the qualification document and a diploma supplement or complete transcript; it does not list a course syllabus among its standard attachments. For that specific route, the Ministry also accepts an applicant’s own translation of English documents under its stated rules. Check the exact current procedure before paying to translate a syllabus that the recipient has not requested.

Match the academic year and course edition

Check the course code, institution, instructor, term, level, prerequisites, contact hours, credits, learning outcomes, weekly topics, practical work, assessment weights, and grading legend. Syllabi change; use the version for the year actually attended if available. Tell us when only a later catalog copy exists so the source is not presented as an exact historical record.

Preserve workload and outcomes without converting credits

The European Commission explains that ECTS credits reflect defined learning outcomes and associated workload and that course catalogs and transcripts support credit recognition. A translation should retain the source institution’s credit unit, hours, assessment language, and discipline-specific terms. It should not assign an ECTS value to a non-ECTS course or promise transfer credit; the receiving institution makes that evaluation.

Scope formatting and supporting files

Provide the discipline, course and year, total pages, tables, diagrams, source format, recipient, required sections, and deadline. Mention whether the source is an editable document or scan. Do not paste private academic comments or student identifiers into the public form.

How to request a quote

Common questions

Answers to common questions before you request a quote.

Is a translated syllabus always needed for Slovak degree recognition?

No universal syllabus requirement follows from the Ministry’s degree-level checklist. That route lists qualification evidence and a diploma supplement or complete transcript, while a Slovak university decides what it needs to assess individual course credits. Ask the office handling your exact procedure before ordering a syllabus translation.

Will a translated syllabus guarantee transfer credit?

No. The receiving institution evaluates content and workload under its own rules.

Can a current online course description replace an older syllabus?

Ask the recipient. It may need the version that applied when the course was taken, especially if content or assessment changed.
