Read ratings together with their scale and period

A number, adjective, or short supervisor comment can be misleading when its employer-specific rating key is missing.

01

Source record

Include the rating scale, review period, reviewer role, and employee response if relevant.

02

Reader and purpose

Score labels and nuanced feedback need to retain the original level of assessment.

03

Quote details

Ask whether the recipient truly requires the full review or a simpler employment record.

What to check before ordering

These notes help you describe your request. The receiving organization’s current instructions should guide the final requirements.

Define the review and recipient

Give the employer, role, review period, version, pages, intended Slovak reader, and whether this is a final appraisal, self-assessment, progress review, or draft. Ask why the recipient needs it and whether a simpler employment verification letter would answer that request. A performance review may include private personnel information that is unnecessary for a translation quote.

Include the rating framework

Supply the employer’s scale, performance elements, goals, written narratives, signatures, employee comments, and any amendment or appeal record that the recipient requested. The U.S. Office of Personnel Management describes rating narratives within one federal appraisal system, illustrating how a score and explanatory assessment can be linked; private employers use different systems. Keep “meets expectations,” “exceeds,” and negative findings at the source’s actual strength.

Keep source and translation status clear

Do not turn a manager’s subjective assessment into a verified fact about the employee. Distinguish the reviewer’s opinion, employee response, and formal rating. If only selected pages may be shared, ask the recipient whether an identified excerpt is acceptable and show that it is partial. Translation does not adjudicate a dispute, revise a score, or prove the employer followed its internal process.

Scope a protected review

For the initial form, give page count, period count, tables or rating scales, recipient, output format, and deadline. Avoid names, scores, complaints, medical leave, disciplinary facts, or other personnel details in a public field. Agree on an appropriate way to review the actual file only after the scope and sharing authority are clear.

Common questions

Answers to common questions before you request a quote.

Can a rating be translated without its scale?

Include the employer’s rating key when available; the same number or adjective may mean different things in different systems.

Can only positive pages be translated?

Ask the recipient. If an excerpt is accepted, the output should make the partial scope clear.
